Amazon's Kindle Fire HDX Is Out
2013.09.26
Two years since its first introduction, Amazon has unveiled the latest evolution of its flagship tablet with the Kindle Fire HDX. Features include a new graphics engine, double the memory of the Kindle Fire HD, and triple the processing power.
The magnesium unibody/molded glass-nylon alloy redesign is certainly impressive. Specs include a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor – capable of 339 ppi, perfect 100% sRGB color accuracy, improved brightness, and dynamic image contrast,. The battery is said to last for up to 17 hours when in reading mode, while app updates include the ability to download Prime Instant Videos for watching offline. The model also comes with a helpful “Mayday” button, which allows users to contact Amazon reps to fix any problems via drawing directly on the screen.
Starting at $229 USD for the 7″ version and $379 USD for 8.9″, the Kindle Fire HDX is now available for pre-order online, and will be shipped out beginning October 18.
