According to unnamed sources, The Verge's Tom Warren is reporting that Microsoft is considering bringing Android apps to Windows Phone and other Windows devices. The WP8 app ecosystem could get a lot crowded all of a sudden.

If Microsoft can offer Android-level compatibility with services like Gmail or Chrome, it will make Windows Phone instantly more appealing. There will be thousands of apps to download all of a sudden.

But will this strategy work? BlackBerry 10 also runs Android apps, but their devices are not selling off the shelves. What do you think? Will accommodating another platform's apps be able to mean success for Windows? [The Verge]
