Fujitsu's Latest Gesture Control Glove is a Lacy Looking One
2014.02.20
Fujitsu has announced its take on gesture-control - using one of Madonna's lace gloves from the 1980s. It is throwback meets modern tech! The NFC glove is supposed to do Minority Report stuff.
According to Fujitsu, the glove "functions reliably in multiple tasks and postures without being awkward." They claim that the glove can be worn during everyday activities without conversational gestures being misconstrued as commands. The lacy looking part of the glove is laden with sensors on the wrist-mounted section and it can detect if your hand is held back in what is called a "dorsiflexed position".
When the glove is close enough to a device equipped with NFC tags, they become gesture controllable. At current, it recognizes six differing gesture commands with 98 percent accuracy. Would you wear something like that? It doesn't look all that bad, actually.
