Everyone loves emojis, but some folks think that it could use a little more diversity. Back in 2012, singer Miley Cyrus was the first to tweet about the lack of racial diversity in iOS emojis:

Apple's CEO Tim Cook has since announced that they will finally be doing something about the lack of non-white people in emojis.

No word on when these changes will take place, but here's what Katie Cotton, Apple's vice president of worldwide corporate communications, had to say about the upcoming update:
"Tim forwarded your email to me. We agree with you. Our emoji characters are based on the Unicode standard, which is necessary for them to be displayed properly across many platforms. There needs to be more diversity in the emoji character set, and we have been working closely with the Unicode Consortium in an effort to update the standard."
