The LHC Has Found a New Particle Unlike Any Other
2014.04.12
What's next for the LHC after finding the God particle? It has just found a new particle, one that seems to be an entirely new form of matter.
According to experiments, scientists have confirmed that a new particle called Z(4430) exists, and it is a new form of matter called tetraquark. Quarks are subatomic particles that when combined, form all matter.
They form mesons in pairs, and in triplets, protons and neutrons. Tetraquarks are a hypothesized combination of four of the little things—and Z(4430) was thought to be an example. No longer.
