How The Way You Dress Affects How You Act (Video)
2013.09.18
Dressing is important, and how you present yourself can have a profound effect on how others perceive you. It can also affect the way you act. Clothing can actually make you think a certain way and have a positive or negative impact on your performance.
According to David McRaney, author of You Are Now Less Dumb, there's a study that demonstrates how we act differently based on what we wear, or what we think we're wearing.
The study takes participants and dresses half of them in everyday clothing and the other half in lab coats. Those in lab coats made far fewer mistakes than those without.
In another experiment, both halves were given lab coats but one half were told they paint smocks instead. The people with lab coats performed better than those in "paint smocks".
Does this mean when we dress smart we tend to think we are smart? Sounds like there's a strong correlation there.
Check out the video below. You may not want to dress so sloppily anymore.
