Microsoft's Wikipedia Page Came This Close To Getting Censored
2013.09.30
Screwing up takedown requests can happen to everyone, even major companies like Microsoft. According to Torrent Freak, these links were listed in the takedown request sent by LeakID (the glorified arm of Microsoft's censorship machine) on behalf of Microsoft.
Besides the torrents and porn links, someone over-looked the fact that they added important links like those to Microsoft Office 2007's Wikipedia page and tutorial on Microsoft.com. Luckily Google recognized the errors and decided not to vaporize those links from Google searches.
A Microsoft spokesperson has since revealed that this was all due to a "simple clerical error", and that they're cutting ties with LeakID.
