Looking At iOS 7 Could Be Making You Sick. Literally.
2013.10.01
If iOS 7 is making you sick, its because it really is. The zooming transitions and parallax effects of Apple's newest operating system may be making some people feel a bit queasy.
"The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache," one user reported on the Apple Support forum.
Apparently, those experiences are not uncommon.
"I now have to close my eyes or cover the screen during transitions, which is ridiculous," Jenni Leder, a mobile app developer, told The Guardian.
As Wired explains, your brain is automatically assuming your viewpoint is moving relative to the floating icons on the screen when your home screen background shifts.
This is the reason why some people can't read in the car.
If you want to feel less queasy, you can disable some of these features. You can turn off the parallax effect by checking "reduce motion" in the iPhone's accessibility options.
