Higgs Boson Scientists Awarded The Nobel Prize In Physics
2013.10.09
François Englert of Université Libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgien, and Peter W. Higgs of the University of Edinburgh, UK — were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics this year for the Higgs boson theory.
They proposed the theory in 1964, which says that all mass originates from a special particle - the Higgs particle. One that look a lot of money, and time to find. The theory was confirmed by the particle's discovery at the CERN laboratory in 2012.
The discovery is very important for modern physics. It proves the Standard Model, the predominant theory of particle physics.
