The 'Morph' Airplane Seats Will Accommodate Any Body Size [VIDEO]
2013.11.14
British design firm Seymourpowell has presented a custom seat sizing for air travel to address the issue of accommodating people of different sizes.
Dubbed "Morph", the new seating concept involves a bench-like piece of furniture that can adjust to an individual's needs. It can accommodate petite, tall or big boned folk with a touch of a button. The seat is covered with stretchy fabric over a foam base clamped down by the armrest and can be extended out for a larger platform.
The mechanical seat formers underneath will dictate the degree of recline or support and the seat dividers are automated too. Each bench is a total 54 inches long, to be split up between two or three individuals as needed — so two people can have a roomier seat on one bench if they are willing to pay for it.
For now, Morph is still a concept. Will airlines adopt this? Air travel would be so much more comfortable if they did.
