It seems like Apple gets awarded a patent every other week. The latest is the "plenoptic" or light-field camera. Or a Lytro like camera in other words. It lets you refocus photos after you've taken them. Will iPhone photography be taken to the next level because of this?

The patent is for a "Digital camera including refocusable imaging mode adaptor". It uses an adaptor holding a microlens array that can be engaged for low resolution, refocusable images.  It captures the entire field of light around the camera and breaks it up using the microlenses.

As with all patents, this isn't much more than an indication that the company may even use this tech. But there's always the possibility.
