Munich Museum Moved Into a Building Made Of Scaffolding To Continue Operating
2013.08.30
Munich's largest art museum built a gigantic scaffolding reconstruction next door. Time for some renovation! So instead of moving, they're doing this.
Pinakotek is actually a collection of four different museums. Renovations were poised to force it to a halt in operations in February, but thanks to a proposal by German architect Jürgen Mayer H., the museum was able to continue operating almost normally.
The shelf scaffolding parts are simple and are a network of empty cross bracing, rising more than 50 feet into the air at times. It supports container style structures where the indoor spaces are located.
It's one heck of a smart way to do things for sure. The Pinakotek reopens officially on September 18th. [Jürgen Mayer H. via ArchDaily]
