The Blur Sofa by Marc Thorpe Looks Like it's Fading
2013.11.14
The Blur Sofa is part of Marc Thorpe's Blurred Collection for Moroso at the Soho showroom in New York City this October. The sofa is covered in knitted material displaying a gradient pattern. The designer described the piece as, “a sofa with a deliberately indefinite, disappearing shape that casts doubt on the rational concept of scale as it cancels the relationship between space and volume. It plays on creating a feeling of uncertainty as to its size and shape“.
This interesting piece of furniture was developed on a wooden frame covered with different-density polyurethane foam. The aim of both designer and manufacturer was “to push the limits of technology, material, form and space.”
