Millions of Kids Can Play Soccer Now, Thanks to This Guy

Millions of kids can play football now, thanks to Tim Jahnigen. He created a soccer ball that will last. For a really really long time.
The OneWorld Futbol, gives children living in the harshest of environments around the world a chance to play the game, where traditional balls don't last. In these places, plastic bags, rope, inflated condoms and all sorts of trash substitute as soccer balls instead.
Sports, is not just another means or route to college. It is an essential part of human development that teaches us the indispensable lessons about teamwork, conflict resolution and tolerance. It brings people together. It binds us. It makes us cheer for something we believe in.
That healing power of sport, made possible by Jahnigen, came in the form of a ball made of injection-molded, cell foam, which is close to what Crocs shoes use, is virtually indestructible. The ball cannot be deflated, and it doesn't get waterlogged and is made to survive.
Jahnigen was inspired to make the ball when he watched a documentary on children living in war zones. He didn't have the cash on hand to fund the R&D, but he had worked with Sting before, and when he told the singer about the idea, Sting funded the research.
According to the company, an estimated 21 million children have the opportunity to play with over 700,000 indestructible soccer balls in over 160 countries.
