Be warned, as what you're about to see might put you off meat for a while. Adam Danforth is the author of a new book series that sets out to educate those interested in humanely slaughtering their own food.

The series titled "Butchering: The Comprehensive Photographic Guide to Humane Slaughtering and Butchering" is separated into two volumes: "Poultry, Rabbit, Lamb, Goat and Pork," and an entire volume devoted to "Beef."

But what really makes the book stand out is the detailed, step-by-step photos that reveal every nuance of slaughtering an animal. Be warned, as these images below are seriously graphic:
