This Guy Made a Shoe That Will Solve Huge Problems for Poor Children
2015.04.17
Kenton Lee developed a pair of shoes for children living in extreme poverty. They aren't just any kind of shoe. They are shoes that can grow. And for families living in extreme poverty states, this makes a lot of sense.
His shoes can expand for a child's growing feet.
They are also designed to last five years, and have five adjustable settings.
Lee was in Kenya when he noticed a little girl's shoes were too small for her feet. They were also pretty worn out.
So he made a shoe that is durable and that could grow with the child over the years.
This is important because, not only were they growing out of their shoes, but they were also exposed to diseases from the ground.
Moreover, they typically grow up in environments without proper sanitation, making them more susceptible to soil-transmitted diseases and parasites.
What a brilliant idea indeed! Lee's organization has set up a way to purchase and these shoes in bulk to children who need them around the world.
