St. Patrick’s day is coming up, and it’s a time that many associate with drinking. However, not everyone is a drinker, especially those who are an addict to alcohol, or have DUI convictions. However, there are some good ways to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day regardless. Let’s take a look at a few.
Make a Non-Alcoholic Beverage
If you do some Googling, you may discover that there are quite a few recipes for non-alcoholic St. Patrick’s Day drinks. From lime-flavored punch to the famous shamrock shake, you can find drinks to your taste that have no alcohol. This is especially good if you have work and can’t have alcohol. You don’t necessarily need an alcoholic beverage to celebrate.
Enjoy Nature
Many people associate St. Patrick’s Day with green, so why not get out and enjoy the greenness of life? Being in mid-March, many places are starting to warm up, and if the weather is good, why not enjoy a day of nature? Go out in the woods, or take a walk at a nature trail. Trust us when we say that you will not regret it whatsoever.
Listen to Some Music
Music is considered an escape, and a drug, so why not try it? Perhaps you can listen to some Irish music to get in the mood for the holiday. Music can help boost your creativity, or get your feet moving, and it’s so easy to listen to music from Ireland thanks to Spotify and other places.
Eat Some Good Food
Another way you can celebrate is to get some good food. See if there are any St. Patrick’s Day meals going on in any restaurants, or make some at home. There are many green foods you can try, or you can make some sweets as well. The sky is the limit.
Go to a Party, But Don’t Drink
Many people who have a drinking problem can’t be around alcohol because the temptation is strong. However, if you’re able to enjoy a party without drinking, then go. People watching while you're sober is always interesting. Just make sure that you deny any beverages offered. Again, this is something that requires willpower, but if you're able to, then it may be worth it.
Have a Plan
If you’re not necessarily an alcoholic, but you lose control during parties, then perhaps make a plan to drink if you really want to. Have a designated driver ready or a ride share planned. Set some cutoff dates to stop drinking and stick to them. Having a plan can ensure a fun and wild, but safe St. Patrick’s Day.
