Save the Date: Parx Casino Poker Tables Open This December
2020.12.11
2020 has changed our way of life, but it seems that some things will soon be returning to normal. While this pandemic has yet to end, businesses are resuming normal operations, albeit under strict new protocols to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak.
Many companies have faced closures and severe restrictions that hampered a return to business as usual, with some facing severe financial constraints as a direct consequence. However, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel for casinos in Pennsylvania.
2020: a learning curve
Pa online gambling has seen unprecedented growth in the Keystone State since its launch. In COVID-19’s wake and some physical casino closures, it has become most gambling operators’ bread and butter. The state is credited with a smooth introduction of online casinos, thanks to well-regulated policies from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
Users across the state have found a welcome entertainment source during trying times by using online casinos and the myriad of games they offer. From table games to slots, these sites bring a casino experience right to players’ living rooms.
Good news for poker players
When casinos like Parx reopened their brick-and-mortar operations, they were not allowed to resume table games like poker, which authorities regarded as too risky and likely to cause a COVID-19 super spreader event. However, companies got the go-ahead to resume poker operations, and Parx intends to open theirs on Tuesday, 15 December 2020, at 9 am. Games will run 24-hours in the casino’s much-loved Poker Room with its 80 tables, by far the most in any Pennsylvania casino. However, the company will follow any health and safety regulations from state authorities, should any be issued.
Those poker enthusiasts who enjoy playing live games in-person have welcomed this move and are raring to get back to the tables to play their favorite card game. Indeed, many decided that a game of poker will add to their holiday festivities this year. They hope that the semblance of normality this reopening will bring is indicative of things to come now that a vaccine for COVID-19 seems imminently available.
Precautions casinos must follow include mandatory mask-wearing in their facilities, social distancing, and plexiglass barriers between dealers and players. Guests and employees are encouraged to use hand sanitizer provided to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak.
Online gambling set to continue
With the roaring success of online casinos recorded this year, their use is forecast to continue growing over the coming months. While some families may be forced to forgo their annual incredible Christmas celebrations due to comorbidities and other risk factors, nothing is stopping them from playing casino games and betting on sports online.
