‘The Door To Hell‘ isn't exactly science fiction. It is a real place in Turkmenistan. Back in the 1970s, Soviet scientists found an amazing depot of natural gas. But while they attempted to retrieve it, the ground started to collapse.

They decided it would be better off to leave it alone than let the dangerous combustible gas vent into the environment. 42 years later, the crater is still burning. Check it out in the video below:
