People Magazine Bans Paparazzi Pictures of Celebrity Kids
2014.02.27
In a move that's a good one, People Magazine has joined Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard's cause of stopping the paparazzi from taking pictures of celebrity kids without their parents' permission.
The Los Angeles Times says that both People and Just Jared will only post pictures of kids with their parents at events and pictures from Instagram and photo shoots.
People’s editorial director Jess Cagle said in a letter that they will also publish “newsworthy” paparazzi pictures of kids like Suri Cruise or Blue Ivy Carter, etc. He went on to burn celebs who whore their kids out and then scream at the media for doing so.
Of course, we still run a lot of sanctioned photos – like exclusive baby pictures taken with the cooperation of celebrity parents, and photos of stars posing with their kids at events (like a red carpet) where they’re expecting and willing to be photographed. But we have no interest in running kids’ photos taken under duress. Of course, there may be rare exceptions based on the newsworthiness of photos. And there’s always the tough balancing act we face when dealing with stars who exploit their children one day, and complain about loss of privacy the next
I woke up to the BEST NEWS! @peoplemag is joining the fight against #pedorazzi with a #NoKidsPolicy !!!! I knew they would be first. #class
