Back to the Future is making a comeback. With products. First we saw the Nike Mags coming out. Now Mattel, has announced that it will be making the hoverboard that Marty McFly made famous in Back to the Future II.

Too bad it doesn't actually hover. Its a 1:1 replica of the movie version but its definitely a nice to have. The ad for the BTTF hoverboard at Toy Fair claims its "movie accurate". There's even a hole where Marty ripped off the pole so that it can "glide over most surfaces".

Mattel will start taking pre-orders for the hoverboard from March 1st through the 20th and will ship the board during the 2012 holiday season. But according to Mattel's press release:

Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. If we don't receive the minimum orders, won't go into production and customers will not be charged. The price will be announced later this month.

Pre-orders will be taken on MattyCollector.com.  [ToyArk via SlashGear]
