Angry Comic Artist Raises $20,000 In One Hour
It was about a year ago when comic artist Matthew Inman of The Oatmeal wrote an angry blog post against humor aggregator website FunnyJunk. Matthew had derided the platform for allowing (and ad-serving) uncredited images of his work.
You'd think FunnyJunk would have apologized for it, but instead they fired back with a letter claiming defamation and asking for $20,000 in damages. Talk about a slap in the face.
Unfortunately for the guys behind FunnyJunk, they were obviously unsure with who they were dealing with. Matthew most likely laughed out loud before retaliating by writing an even angrier blog post, calling the claims “fiction” and FunnyJunk's lawyer a “jackass”, before finally finished of with the following promises:

- I’m going to try and raise $20,000 in donations.
- I’m going to take a photo of the raised money.
- I’m going to mail you that photo, along with this drawing of your mom seducing a kodiak bear
- I’m going to take the money and donate one half to the National Wildlife Federation and the other half to the American Cancer Society
