9/11Mastermind Kept Sane In Jail by Designing A Vacuum Cleaner
Time is all you have when you're locked behind bars, but how you make use of that time can make all the difference between going insane and coming out alive.
However, Khalid Sheik Mohammed i.e. the alleged mastermind behind 9/11, is probably never going to be set free, but he has reportedly been keeping himself busy while under CIA custody by designing his own vacuum cleaner.
Mohammed, who has a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, is being detained by the CIA in case they needed him in the future. To help him stay sane, Mohammed was given "office hours" where he'd lecture the intelligence officers about whatever was on his mind. As for the vacuum designing, Mohammed's lawyer explained:

"It sounds ridiculous, but answering this question, or confirming or denying the very existence of a vacuum cleaner design, a Swiffer design, or even a design for a better hand towel would apparently expose the U.S. government and its citizens to exceptionally grave danger."
