TV Station Apologizes For Racist Prank Regarding Asiana Flight Tragedy
Last week, this report from KTVU listing the names of the pilots involved in the Asiana tragedy went viral since the names were clearly fabrications intended as crude phonetic jokes.
KTVU officials have since revealed they did not sound out the names before airing the report, nor did they carry out adequate fact-checking.
They've also released a statement confirming that it was an intern working at the National Transportation Safety Board who gave out the names of the flight crew to the TV station.
But it was little too late, as the report was considered to be so offensive and damaging that the airline is considering taking legal action against KTVU-TV and the NTSB.
