Dubai Handing Out Gold Bricks As Reward For Weight Loss
Back in 2012, United Arab Emirates was deemed the eleventh fattest country, which was a clear indication that obesity has become a nation-wide problem. But besides fat people, you know what else they have a lot of there? Gold, that's what.
As a way to tackle the growing obesity epidemic, the municipality of Dubai has reportedly decided to give their populace a more attractive incentive. For every kilo of weight participants of a 30-day challenge lose, they'll receive a gram of gold. Based on the current gold market, that would be equivalent to giving $20 for every pound lost.
But some critics think it might not be the best solution. Since the challenge is limited to 30 days, only those who lost the most weight in that short amount time will be eligible for the gold. And losing a bunch of weight that fast is always dubious.
