The latest crazy beauty treatment comes from Japan, where ladies in pursuit of eternal youth are willing to pay hundreds to have snails crawl about on their face.
For the price of Y24,150 ($241), four organic snails from a reputable breeder in Japan will be placed on a pre-washed face to crawl around freely. The 60-minute 'Celebrity Escargot Course' treatment also involves a series of massages, masks and electrical pulse machines using creams infused with snail mucus which ensure the secretions penetrate the skin properly.
The owners of Tokyo-based beauty salon Ci:z Labo claims that snail slime works well for removing old skin cells while also moisturizes and treats the damaging effects of sunburn.
