Vacationing Family Stumbles Upon Rare 6-Legged Octopus, Eats It Up
Is there any wonder why tourists are so frowned upon? A family was snorkelling in Greece reportedly stumbled upon the rare "hexapus." But instead of basking in its beauty, they decided the best thing to do was smash it against a rock before asking a local chef to cook it.
The chef who was of more sound mind had refused to do as he knew the species was rare, but the father of the family was adamant and decided to fry it up himself. He has since realised his mistake and is attempting to raise awareness of the creatures with biologists at Hellenic Centre for Marine Research in Athens to prevent this from ever happening again:
"I want to pursue the scientific angle to make scientists aware of the existence of the wild hexapus," he said. "It is the least that I can do given my ignorance and guilt that I feel for killing such a rare animal."
