What's the first thing that comes to mind when you're shopping for a mattress? Turns out most consumers would rather make do with a good night sleep instead of headboard banging sex.

This dilemma was highlighted due to the increasing demand of mattresses featuring 'memory-foam.' The reason why it's so popular is due to their unique way of forming around your body and supporting you while you sleep.

But unlike traditional spring mattresses, which offer plenty of support off of which to launch your sexual moves, memory foam is squishy. As sex therapist Sari Eckler Cooper explains to Baron's:
"There's a lack of resistance for the knees and feet. And whoever is on the bottom is sinking into the bed."
Despite this flaw, people are apparently buying memory foam mattresses in droves, and it's the fastest growing segment in the mattress market in the past eight years.

If you find this odd, just remember that you can still have great sex on any number of other surfaces, and sleeping on the floor is just not an option.
