Those energy drinks that supposedly 'give you wings' and help you stay awake during class are also doing irreplaceable damage to your smile.  According to Science Daily, a new study has found that the intake of sports and energy drinks among youths have skyrocketed. But what's worse is the serious damage they're doing to your teeth.

For the study, researchers exposed human tooth enamel samples to 13 sports drinks and and nine energy drinks in a way that simulated the drinking of one of these beverages every few hours. Damage to the enamel was clear after just five days of exposure and that energy drinks were the worst offenders, as they caused twice as much damage as the sports drinks did.

To avoid this, the researchers recommend chewing sugar-free gum or rinse with water right after to help return acidity levels in your mouth to normal. And avoid brushing your teeth right away, because all that will do is spread the acid around on your teeth and make it worse.
