The 7-Eleven international convenience store chain has just announced it's introducing a new line of 20-calorie diet Slurpees, called Slurpee Lites. And they're giving them away on May 23rd for free to anyone crazy enough to believe this fad. More from LA Times:

Makers of the icy, slushy 7-Eleven favorite will begin unveiling diet-friendly flavors next week. Sugar-free mango will be followed by sugar-free strawberry banana and sugar-free cherry limeade. Additional flavors will be rolled out through the end of the year.

Free tastings of the sugar-free mango will be available on the official launch date, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Get the significance of the time? Or the fact that free samples will come in a 7.11-ounce serving?)

Normal Slurpees usually only consist of four ingredients (ice, sugar, flavouring, dye). So there's a big chance these things are going to taste horrible (hence the diet part since you'd probably won't drink the whole thing). You'd probably be better off just licking some homemade ice-pops.
