Stats: Men on Twitter Bicker More About Valentine’s Day Than Women
Its Valentine's Day today. And on Twitter, it seems that male users are more disgruntled compared to females. Women post more tweets for sure, but men tend to take on a negative tone on the Feb 14 holiday based on this new data from NM Incite.
According to the analytics company, they inspected 70,000 recent tweets to discover that one-tenth of men's teets about Valentine's Day are positive compared to one-fifth of women's.
One example is this: @Mamasp00n posted, “[F*ck] valentines day, I’ll be playing twisted metal for 5 minutes then cry in a corner because I’m lonely and eat fun dip.”
The “Tomorrow Is Tuesday” worldwide trending topic that surfaced Monday on Twitter aren't just getting tweets about the obvious but also negative comments about the day too.
“Among both genders, the most commonly discussed Valentine’s Day topic is not having a date, with 36 percent for women and 25 percent for men,” says NM Incite. “Interestingly, women are more likely to discuss buying a gift for their significant other, while men are more likely to share their dislike for the holiday.”
In terms of share of voice, women still command most of it.
